They say that good things come to those who wait, but for anyone as inspired by this watch as I am, don’t wait at all because there are just three pieces of the Armin Strom Pure Resonance Sky Blue watch being made. First unveiled at the Watches & Wonders Shanghai exhibition, the new watch consistently maintains its resonance and is one of the most precise timepieces one can own. While the technical and mechanical aspect of this watch is over the top, so, too is the aesthetic of it. Once again, Armin Strom is all about minimalism, skeletonization and high-end style.
Armin Strom Pure Resonance Sky Blue Aesthetics
The small offset hour/minute dial and the seconds dial of the Armin Strom Pure Resonance Sky Blue special edition watch are created by none other than the master of guilloche, Kari Voutilainen, who hand crafts every guilloche’ dial. The hour and minutes are read off of roman numerals via steel hands and a classic railroad track flanged. The finishing on the sky blue dials features a lacquered enamel (a froid) that offers brilliance, luster and uniqueness.
Armin Strom Pure Resonance Sky Blue Mechanics
Inside the 42mm 18-karat white gold watch – but often visible from the dial side and case back –the ARF16 movement showcases its visible dual balances that oscillate in resonance. The bridge are decorated with a Cotes de Genève using straight lines (something the brand has not done before). The pulsation of the clutch spring and two balance wheels is mesmerizing and offers marine chronometer precision. The time displays are energized by the lower regulator, while the upper regulator creates the resonance (constant force).
Impressions of the Armin Strom Pure Resonance Sky Blue
When the entire package comes together as one so magnificently in so many ways, it begs the question: Why make only three watches? The answer, of course, is rarity is valuable and so is the time it takes to make the Kari Voutilainen dials and the masterful Armin Strom movement. Each Pure Resonance Sky Blue watch retails for $73,000.
This timepiece is so striking from inside out that it really takes my breath away. It is one of those watches that you won’t want to take off your wrist. Recently, one other watch had this effect on me. It was the lavender dial Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force.
