Yes, we are in Basel and yes, we do want to bring you some of the newest timepieces. But, since it is also St. Patrick’s Day—we thought we would celebrate and bring you a few great green watches being unveiled this week.
From Kerbedanz, this Tree of Life watch offers powerful symbolism and stunning artistic elegance. The watch features a dial mode of sold gold with gold bas-relief sculpture and cloisonné enamel, set with 8 diamonds that are not only the markers, but also the fruit of the tree of life. Symbolizing spirituality and longevity, the 42mm 18-karat gold case is framed with an incredible 541 green emeralds weighing 5 carats. A mechanical automatic movement based on a Technotime caliber powers the spectacular watch. It features twin barrels and offers 120 hours of power reserve. The watch is finished with a green alligator strap. Just 41 pieces will be made.
This new Ulysse Nardin watch is also a mesmerizing piece. With an overall exotic flair, the Royal Python Skeleton Tourbillon features python-inspired green painting on the bridges and a matching python-design leather strap. Created in a limited edition of just 18 pieces crafted in 4N 18-karat rose gold, the Royal Python Skeleton Tourbillon is a bold yet beautifully alluring timepiece. It is powered by the UN-170 Caliber with in-house developed flying tourbillon and silicium technology – including a silicium balance spring, anchor and escapement wheel. The manual winding watch also offers an amazing 170 hours o power reserve. A sapphire crystals and caseback allow for viewing of the superbly finished watch.
For women, this green machine is the newest Christophe Claret addition to the brand’s beloved floral collection. Called Layla, the design is a sumptuous work of elegance and technical prowess. The emerald and diamond beauty is a new version of the Margot watch, which is a mechanical masterpiece with which, with the push of buttons, the wearer can play a wonderful game of “he loves me, he loves me not” – with the petals disappearing from the dial and the answer being displayed at the base.
There are a lot of other great green watches making their debut here – but these are among the most unusual. Stay tuned for more news from BaselWorld 2016 daily.
